Sulimar is a refined interior design project located in Madeira, designed to embody the island’s soft light, Atlantic breeze and natural serenity. The concept revolves around elegance, minimalism, and timeless comfort, creating a living space that feels both contemporary and warm. Every line, texture, and proportion was carefully considered to achieve a balanced harmony between architecture and interior design.
Concept & Vision
The design vision for Sulimar was guided by clarity and calmness. The spaces were conceived with clean lines, soft transitions, and an open layout that enhances the natural flow of light. Neutral tones—soft beige, ivory, and warm greys—were chosen to create a serene and luminous base. The result is a minimal yet luxurious home, where architecture becomes the canvas for everyday life.
Materials & Textures
Sulimar celebrates material honesty. Natural oak brings warmth, stone surfaces add texture and permanence, while soft linen and cotton fabrics create a cozy tactile experience. All finishes were selected for their durability and timeless appeal, aging beautifully over time. Continuous floors and precise detailing reinforce a sense of architectural fluidity and ease of maintenance.
Light & Atmosphere
Light plays a leading role in this project. Large openings and slim frames let in abundant natural light, allowing the Atlantic sun to animate the interior throughout the day. At night, a layered lighting system creates soft and elegant ambiences: ambient lights shape the volume, task lighting ensures functionality, and accent lights highlight key architectural moments. Indirect LED strips reveal textures, while floor and table lamps bring light closer to human scale.
Kitchen & Social Areas
The kitchen blends seamlessly with the living space, designed with continuous cabinetry, warm wood finishes, and stone countertops. Integrated appliances and minimalist details make it both functional and discreet. A solid wood dining table anchors the social core, complemented by upholstered chairs for comfort without visual heaviness.
Bedrooms & Rest Areas
In the private areas, the goal was to create a sanctuary of calm. Upholstered headboards, layered curtains, and soft rugs build a sense of intimacy. Adjustable lighting adapts to different moods, and custom-built wardrobes maximize space while blending seamlessly into the walls. The atmosphere is quiet, elegant, and deeply comfortable.
Bathrooms
The bathrooms combine natural stone with soft matte ceramics. Walk-in showers with recessed drains, brushed fixtures, and warm lighting create an intimate, spa-like experience. Every element was designed for durability, tactile quality, and easy maintenance.
Sustainability & Maintenance
Sulimar was developed with longevity and energy efficiency in mind. LED lighting throughout the house, A-class appliances, FSC-certified wood, and water-efficient fixtures minimize the environmental impact. The project merges beauty with responsibility, proving that timeless design can also be sustainable.
